Leave of Absence for Service in an Elective Office and Legislative Service
State Human Resources requested new HRMS codes in response to recent rulemaking regarding a leave of absence for service in an elective office (RCW 41.04.120) and for legislative service (RCW 49.100.020).
An employer must grant a temporary leave of absence (unpaid) to an employee for having been elected or appointed to an elective office in accordance with RCW 41.04.120.
An employer must grant a temporary leave of absence (unpaid or the employee may substitute any combination of accrued paid leave) to an employee who is a member of the state Legislature in order for the employee to perform any special duty as a member of the legislature during regular and special legislative sessions in accordance with RCW 49.100.020.
New HRMS Reason for Action Codes
The following Action Reason codes have been added to HRMS to support this change. The new Action Reason codes are effective July 1, 2022:

The following Absence Types have been added to HRMS to support this legislative change. The new Absence Types will be available in HRMS and MyPortal. The new Absence Types are effective July 1, 2022:
