Use these procedures to determine eligibility, create a Sick Leave Buyout Form, and process Sick Leave Buyout in HRMS.

If your agency will be sending printing/mailing to the Department of Enterprise Services, you should coordinate with them by email at or by phone at (360) 664-4343.

These user procedures will walk you through a series of steps to process Sick Leave Buyout by January 31st of the year following the buyout year (example January 31, 2019 for buyout year 2018).

Sick Leave Buyout Process Overview:

  1. Determine Eligibility
  2. Contact eligible employees for opt-in/opt-out options
  3. Receive confirmation from employees who have elected to opt-in
  4. Create Sick Leave Buyout Form(s)
  5. Send Sick Leave Buyout Form(s) for return signature
  6. Receive signed Sick Leave Buyout Form(s) from employee(s)
  7. Create Sick Leave Buyout Quota(s)
